Judge's Comments:

This was tougher than I thought it would be. Over a ten-day period I made four separate visits to the develpment for a total of seven hours. I tried to take into account the use of perennials, annuals, shrubs, potted plants and other embellishments such as rock walls, tresllis, lighting and statuary.

During the ten-day observation period it was interesting to see the gardens evolve as perennials came into and went out of bloom and the annuals grew by the day.

Gardening in limited spaces under tough condititions can be very challenging. Several very attractive gardens were not eligble for awards because they were planted by committee members. It was nice to see the effort put into many of the properties throughout the development.

1st - 905 Kenwood
- A nice cottage garden look - great use of perennials: perovskia roses, coreopsis and bird bath.
- Not real flashy and showy but very inviting.

2nd - 2204 Harvard
- Nice side yard, really shows while driving up Harvard - great geranium plant and perennials.
- Love the mix of plants, cobblestones and birdhouse.
- Really like the use of the pot with the frog by the parking area to extend the garden.

3rd - 1604 Liberty
- Very showy back garden around deck, easily seen from Bell Run.
- The daylilies and roses make quite a show and the look carries over to the front garden.

3rd - 6500 Rolling Hill
- Very colorful - nice mix of perennials (Shasta Daisies) with marigolds and other annuals.
- The clematis with the trellis add another dimiension to the garden.

HM - 2204 Harvard
- Nice stone wall and cutleaf maple.
- Colorful annuals.

HM - 3503 Carriage
- Beautiful impatiens.
- Love all the pots.
- Coleus looks great.

HM - 303 Signal Hill
- NIce backyard with perennials around it.
- Pots on the deck and urn planter look great!

HM - 701 Evergreen
- Hits you over the head with color!
- From the multitude of annuals to the colorforms on the window this one screams to be seen.

HM - 6601 Colonial
- Beautiful impatiens - lovely New Guinea impatiens hanging basket.

HM - 6600 Colonial
- Nice impatiens in side yard and impatiens in clay wall half-basket.

5501 Constitution
- Nice non-stop begonias, sundial and New Guinea impatiens.
